Q 4-1 Discussion: Treatment Group/section restrictions. Must post first. Subscribe This is a group activity. For more information on groups, please see About Group Work. In this discussion, you will discuss strengths and areas of improvement in Penelope's treatment. After reading the chapters for this week and Penelope Case Study: Part Two PDF, in your initial discussion post this week, explain your thoughts about Penelope's treatment. • What are some strengths? • What are some areas of improvement? • What is not addressed? Remember that for all discussions, you will not be able to see what your peers have written until after you have submitted your own initial post. After you have posted your response to this discussion prompt, read and respond to several of your peers' posts. Engage in a conversation about whether Penelope's treatment plan needs to be improved. If you believe it does need to be improved, give suggestions for improvements. If you do not believe it needs to be improved, explain why. Support your comments with references to the readings. This task will help you to prepare for completing Final Project II: Residential Discharge Plan. Refer to the Discussion Rubric PDF for directions on completing this discussion. After reading about how Penelope progressed through her treatment, it does come out of left field when "she wants out". There are a lot of good things that were happening during her 15 days with abstinence from heroin and alcohol before she started to get cold feet. The suggestion of family intervention and counseling sessions to deal with family dynamics that could be propelling Penelope's addiction, even though these parts of the plan were not carried out by her. I think that there is quite a bit of background issues within Penelope family, especially when it comes to whom is to blame for whose addiction from the sides of Penelope, her father, and her mother.
